The minutes of the August meeting were accepted as amended.

Abigail Waugh presented the Coordinator's report. In it, she described a series of Monday morning meetings called Coffee Connections. They are held in the Hopewell Train Station, Railroad Place, in Hopewell Borough. Dates will be 9/28, 10'/26 and 11/23, from 10:00-11:30am.

Larry Mansier described Bill Farmer and his meeting with Frank Lautenberg's secretary about grants. Lautenberg did not seem to be eager to get out the check book.

An article in the local newspaper on the Y's new building was discussed. The seniors' possible participation in this program will be formulated in the future when the Y's program has been clarified. West Windsor's building has been revamped to use solar energy.

The Four Square survey results will be presented in an evening meeting on October 14th at the Township Building.

Exploration Program: Larry Mansier described the Explorations program. It was developed by the Mansiers and the Nortons, with participation by Barbara Pratt, chair of the Older Adult Ministry of the Pennington Presbyterian Church. Nancy Mikoski, Minister of the Pennington Presbyterian Church gave permission to have the courses at the church as part of the Outreach Program. Flyers are being distributed and publicity in the newspaper being obtained as well. Nils Stout suggested a group who would offer a class on the Civil War.

A new newspaper is being distributed called the Hopewell Express. It is free to everyone. It is being published by the Ewing Observer once a month.

Helen Lee has called churches to find people who would function as contacts for senior affairs. She will provide Larry with a lost of those she has called and the names of those agreeing to be contacts.

The Advisory Board will keep pushing the need for a Senior Center.

The question was raised of a replacement for Bob Riley. Weed Tucker said the mayor was working on it.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:00pm

The next meeting will be held on October 21st at 2:00pm at the Senior Center.

Respectfully Submitted,
Virginia Silliphant, Acting Secretary
